My name is Rebecca (Becky) Agostino. I grew up in the Boston area and graduated from Duke University in 2011 with a major in economics and a certificate in contemporary children's issues. My graduation thesis focused on the correlation between public housing conditions in urban areas and reading/writing achievement, and I am still interested in this field. However, I am very excited about being a teacher and improving my instruction over the next several years.
I currently teach 9th grade reading, writing, and math (special education) at Democracy Prep Charter School in Harlem. I know that literacy is the key to helping my scholars reach their goals, and also that it is the area that my school struggles with the most, and therefore am excited to be in this course.
